Honda SP125 BS6 Review, Features, Specs, Price, Mileage
Kolkata, Auto Desk: The Honda Motorcycle has recently been launched in the Indian market to replace Honda’s popular commuter motorcycle Honda SP125 BS6. The new SP125 BS6 has now become much more premium and stylish and most importantly it is also coming with the new BS6 engine. These days, people often think highly of buying a commuter bike and after comparing several bikes among themselves, they choose a better motorcycle for themselves. But now, to eliminate this problem of people, Honda has launched SP 125 BS6, which is a featured motorcycle.
Two-wheeler maker Honda Two Wheelers has announced that it is going to launch a new bike on November 14. The company has already started giving BS6 updates to its bikes and recently launched the Activa 125 BS6 with the new emission standard engine as well.
The company has kept its initial price of Rs 72,900 (ex-showroom Delhi). This new motorcycle conforms to Bharat Stage VI standards, which is going to be affected from 1 April 2020. The SP 125 is the company’s second BS6 two-wheeler launched within two months. Earlier, the company launched the Honda Activa 125 BS6.
Looks & Design:
The new Honda SP125 BS6 is a brand-new designed bike from the company and features many firsts in the segment. As such it has LED DC headlamps, sharper bodywork, new body graphics, new colors, a new digital instrument panel and a long comfortable seat.
The new SP 125 BS6 features a new fuel-injected 125 CC engine, a segment-first engine start-stop switch and an 8 on-board sensors. Apart from this, many information such as a new twin trip meters, average fuel efficiency and gear position indicator are available.
The new Honda SP 125 is a completely new motorcycle and gets an updated chassis with a new fuel-injected engine. Along with being wider and longer, the Honda Shine SP is also lighter than it is now. The SP 125 looks like a 150 cc motorcycle. The company has given it a completely sporty look. It has a new LED headlight with a new face that looks good on it. Apart from this, the company has also redesigned the tail section, but there is no LED tail light here.
Features:
As a feature, the company has given a new full-digital instrument console in it, which provides all the information related to fuel and trip. Apart from this, an Eco Green Light sign has also been given above the instrument console, due to which you can find out which rpm is giving better mileage to your bike. In the instrument console, you are also given a gear position indicator such as fuel range, two trip meters, digital fuel gauge, odometer and speedometer.
The company has also given new switchgear indicator and you get a new pass-light switch on the left handlebar controls, including high beam and low beam. At the same time, on the right hand, the company has given the first engine kill switch of the segment which comes with a starter button. Honda has also given the new 125 ACG (Alternate Current Generator) of the SP 125, due to which you will not hear any cranking sound from its starter motor. Overall, this bike is now fully packed and it also gives a sporty feel. Despite having so many features, this bike lacks only one feature that is side stand warning, which is also important in terms of safety. The company has little need to think about this.

Honda SP125 BS6 Engine:
This motorcycle has a 124 cc, 4-stroke SI engine, which generates power of 10.7 bhp at 7500 rpm and 10.9 Nm of torque at 6000 rpm. This motor is equipped with a 5-speed gearbox and now it gives 16 percent more mileage. Taking about suspension, the company has given telescopic suspension in front forks and adjustable hydraulic shock absorber in the rear.
According to the information given to the government recently, some changes have been made in the new Honda SP 125 BS6. Electronic fuel injection system can be given in it. The new 125cc air-cooled engine will deliver the power which is 0.5 bhp more than the old version.
Breaking, Wheel & Tyre:
Apart from this, the bike has a 240 mm disc brake up front with 18-inch alloy wheels and a 130 mm drum unit in the rear. The company has priced its disc variant at Rs. 77,180 (ex-showroom, Delhi).
Its alloy wheel design is also new and it gets with low rolling resistance tires at the rear and also gives you a choice of MRF and TVS tires, due to which the SP 125 can give good mileage.

Honda SP125 BS6 Color Variant:
The Honda SP 125 BS6 is available in two variants (drum and disc) with 4 color options – Striking Green, Matte Axis Gray Metallic, Imperial Red Metallic and Pearl Cyron Blue.
Honda SP125 BS6 Price:
At the same time, it is expected that the Honda SP125 BS6, which comes with BS6 emission standard engine. The base variant can be priced at Rs. 63,857/-. After the new standard, the company can increase the price of the new bike from seven to ten thousand rupees.
Advantages of New Honda SP125 BS6:
The new Honda SP125 BS6 will be 2,020 mm long, 765 mm wide, and 1,013 mm high. At the same time, its wheelbase will be 1,285 mm. The new bike will be 13 mm longer, 23 mm wider, and 18 mm higher than the old bike. It can feature USB charging with a digital instrument console. Its top version can be given front disc and rear drum brakes. While the base variant will get drum brakes back and forth.
Performance, Riding, and Handling:
The Honda SP125 BS6 has a new BS6 125 cc engine. This engine comes with a PGM-FI fuel injection system. Apart from this, the company has also made many changes inside this engine, due to which it also looks more powerful than before. This engine now produces 10.72 bhp of power at 7,500 rpm and torque of 10.9 Nm at 6,000 rpm. This engine comes with a PGM-FI fuel injection system. Honda has also introduced ESP (Enhanced Smart Power) technology with the same engine, which is used as a jet of oil on the piston inside the cylinder to reduce friction and keep the engine cool.
On the highway, it can easily run at a speed of 80 to 90 kmph and it is quite easy to cruise. At speeds up to 100 kmph, you will not see any kind of vibration like this and it can be run with full confidence in comfortable ride positions. Due to the 8 sensors with the new fuel injection system, Honda SP 125 now claims 16 percent more mileage than the old Shine SP BS4 and during our test ride, it gave an average mileage of up to around 61 kmpl due to which we were quite impressed. The company has also done a very good job on the gearbox and its shifting has become quite smooth. Even in traffic, there is no problem with gear shifting at any speed.
Suspension System:
The suspension systems of the Honda SP125 BS6 are the same as the previous variant Shine SP BS4 model. Standard telescopic forks at the front and 5-stall adjustable twin rear shocks are provided at the rear. Due to these suspensions, now its ride quality has become very comfortable and fun.
Even if you ride a pillion with the SP 125, it will still look strong and stable. It is quite easy to drive on urban roads and at the same time, it offers you a better ride along with better mileage during traffic. Its handling feels very strong and sporty and it will feel like you are not a 125 cc bike, Riding a 150 cc bike. The CBS (combined braking system) given in it works quite well even during braking and the stopping power of disc brake variants is also very good. Overall, it is proving to be a better motorcycle in its segment in terms of ride and we did not get any complaints from it while driving.
Verdict:
The Honda SP125 BS6 has become costlier by Rs 11,000 over the previous model Shine SP BS4. The drum variants of the new SP 125 are priced @Rs 72,900. And the other hand its disc variants are priced @Rs 77,100 (ex-showroom, Delhi). At this price, this bike does not look expensive in any way because this bike has all the features that a commuter bike should have and these are the features people look for in a commuter bike. This bike comes with a BS6 engine with a fuel-injected version, new sporty looks, and the latest features. In such a situation, if you are also looking for a bike that you can use every day, then you can think of Honda SP 125.
